Forgiveness

When I was growing up I struggled with the subject of mathematics. I started and then dropped Algebra seven times before I finally passed it. In today’s sermon Jesus gives Peter a Math lesson that I like. He tells Peter that rather than forgiving a brother seven times, Peter must forgive him seventy-seven times. Jesus is letting us know in this exchange that we should be ready to forgive someone over and over again. Isn’t that what Jesus does for us as Christians?

One Moment with the Shepherd

Isaiah 53:6 says:

All, like sheep, have gone astray; we have turned -every one- to his own way; and the Lord has laid on him the inequity of us all.

We were the sheep and Jesus was our shepherd. He took the sin of everyone upon himself at the cross and when he rose again sin was vanquished forever!
